Draft for DJW to approve

The small print

Private hire terms.

What you're agreeing to when you book DJW for a private party or a Bar/Bat Mitzvah.

These terms cover exclusive hire of DJW Events, 220 Green Lanes, London N13 5LB, run by DJW Events London Ltd. "You" means the person who made the booking (the host). By ticking the box and typing your name to sign on the booking form you agree to them for yourself and on behalf of your guests. Version 2026-10-07.

1. Holding your date

Booking online holds your date for 3 days at no cost. To keep it, pay the £200 deposit within those 3 days. If your party is 21 days away or less when you book, there's no deposit option: pay the full price within the 3 days instead (only our team can agree a deposit in that case: call or email us). If the payment isn't made in time the hold ends automatically and the date goes back on offer. Once it's paid the date is yours.

2. Paying the balance

The rest of the hire price is due 21 days before your party. If it isn't paid by then we'll be in touch, and we may cancel the booking and keep the deposit. Bar drinks are bought separately on the night. Prices on the booking form are the prices you pay; there are no hidden extras.

3. Cancelling and refunds

The same rules as our refund policy. Your booking page shows the exact amount before you confirm, and refunds are made automatically.

  • Changed your mind? If you cancel within 48 hours of making your booking (not 48 hours before the party), you get a full refund, as long as your party is at least 14 days away.
  • The £200 deposit is otherwise non-refundable.
  • 60 or more days before: everything you've paid except the deposit is refunded.
  • 30 to 59 days before: we keep 50% of the total hire price (or the deposit, if that's more) and refund the rest.
  • Under 30 days: no refund.
  • One free date change if you ask 30 or more days before, subject to availability; everything you've paid carries over. Fewer guests doesn't lower the price.
  • If we have to cancel (for example the venue can't open), you get a full refund of everything you've paid, or a free move to a new date.

4. Guest numbers

Your booking covers the number of guests you booked, including you. Everyone coming goes on your guest list through the link we send you: adults sign the guest waiver, under-18s are added by name and date of birth. Guests who aren't on the list sign in at the door. Extra guests are £10 each, up to the venue's limit of 150. More than 48 hours before the party you can buy extra places from your booking page; inside 48 hours you can ask for them and we'll say yes if staffing and security allow. We can refuse entry to anyone over the number booked and paid for.

5. Under-18s

Private hires are all ages. If anyone under 18 is coming you must tell us when you book, be 18 or over yourself, and sign the responsible adult agreement. You are responsible for every under-18 at your party for the whole time they're here. Under-18s are added to your guest list by name and date of birth (a parent can add their children straight after signing their own waiver); they get a wristband and are never served alcohol. Public events (Wonderland nights) are strictly 18+ and these terms don't apply to them.

6. ID and alcohol

We're a licensed bar and we operate Challenge 25: anyone who looks under 25 needs hard-copy photo ID to buy or drink alcohol. No outside drinks, alcoholic or not, and no alcohol is taken outside the building. No drinks in the soft play. Bar staff can refuse service to anyone, and we don't serve people who are drunk.

7. Conduct and safety

Our staff and security are in charge of the venue on the night. We have zero tolerance for aggression or abuse towards our staff: anyone who is aggressive, abusive, badly drunk or unsafe on the equipment will be asked to leave, with no refund. Everyone using the soft play signs the guest waiver, takes shoes off (socks on) and follows the rules on the signs: one at a time on the slides, no climbing the outside of the frame, no rough play. Staff can close the soft play when needed, for example during food, speeches or if it's being misused. The soft play closes at 11pm at the latest.

8. Damage and loss

You're responsible for your guests. If anything is damaged, broken or stolen during your hire beyond normal wear and tear, including the arcade machines, the photo booth and any of our equipment, we'll invoice you for the repair or replacement at cost.

Belongings are your guests' own responsibility. Phones, keys, jewellery and anything else taken into the soft play are at the owner's own risk (the signs inside say so). Our staff will help where they reasonably can, but they won't search the soft play for lost items, and nobody can stay on after the party to look: any search would have to be arranged with us on another day.

9. Decorations, food and entertainment

You're welcome to decorate (no confetti, glitter, pyrotechnics or anything stuck to walls with tape that marks them). Candles are fine on a birthday cake; we don't recommend sparkler candles, as they can set off the fire alarm. You can bring your own food, which must be eaten in the main area. At the end please take your decorations down off the walls; we're happy to throw away any decorations or leftover food you don't want to keep. You can bring your own DJ or use ours; sound levels are set by our technician. Nothing may be sold at your party without our written agreement.

10. Timings

Your hire runs for the times on your booking. You can get in to set up 15 minutes before the start. Everyone must be out of the building by the end time. Our licence ends then, so there's no "staying on": the music stops and the lights come up at the end time, and our staff will ask everyone to leave. If your guests are still here after the end time, you'll be charged an overstay fee of £50 for every 5 minutes or part of 5 minutes, added to your booking. This isn't a way to buy extra time: we won't extend a party on the night.

11. Photos and privacy

We don't photograph private parties. If we'd ever like a photo of yours (for example of your decorations), we'll always ask you first. Your details and your guests' details are used to run the party, as set out in our privacy policy.

12. The legal bit

Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or anything else that can't be limited by law. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Questions? Email office@djwevents.com with your booking reference.
